Explore / intro
Alternatively, the values in the ManMade can be explore through twelve excursions. Through Explore Sessions your ManMade groups can gain practical interaction with the session value. Rather than learning through activities, films or worksheets, each field trip outing will provide physical knowledge within the value, allowing your group to experience the value first hand and gain understanding of its true meaning for their lives.
Things to think about before
- ManMade is designed to work with groups of 6-12 males
- Ideally it should be used with mid teens
- Individuals need to commit to the whole journey
- Find a commited team who are ready to support the group.
Each Explore has two sections:
Explore: Choose from two activities that can illustrate the ManMade core values through excursions and trips out.
Join the journey: Help the core value to become a reality for each young person with activities to do before the next session.

EXPLORE / Purpose
PURPOSE ~noun.
an extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire.
‘Explore Purpose’ is an opportunity to assess what makes us tick. To realise that our purpose is out there ready to be engaged with and lived to the full! Using the following options, give the young people an experience they may not have had before.

explore / Humility
HUMILITY ~noun.
the quality or condition of being humble; modest opinion or estimate of one’s own importance, rank, etc.
‘Explore Humility’ is about getting young people to realise how helping others can be fun and rewarding. During this session the young people will see first-hand the results of being humble. By getting the young people to engage physically with helping others, they will see that it is easy to brighten someone’s day.

exPlore / Courage
COURAGE ~noun.
the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.
‘Explore Courage’ is about demonstrating to your group that there are many different forms of courage. As the leader, explain that courage is not just about doing extreme things that demonstrate your bravery. Courage is also needed to stand up against injustice; both locally with issues such as bullying and globally with issues like extreme poverty.

exPlore / Respect
RESPECT ~noun.
esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability.
‘Explore Respect’ looks at why we should respect others. We often fail to respect others, whether they be teachers, parents or the elderly. The aim of this session is to explore what respect means, how we earn it and how we show it.

exPlore / Control
CONTROL ~noun.
control or restraint of oneself or one’s actions, feelings, etc.
‘Explore Control’ allows the young people to realise that to be in control of the things around them they first need to be in control of themselves. The aim for the session is for the young people to be put under pressure and notice the point at which they start to lose self-control. As the leader, encourage them to work out ways to calm themselves and gain control.

exPLORE / Responsibility
RESPONSIBILITY ~noun.
to be answerable or accountable, as for something within one’s power, control, or management.
‘Explore Responsibility’ focuses on how we positively use the power with which we have been entrusted. If we fail to be responsible, our actions can have an extremely detrimental impact. As we grow up and become men, we will be given the power to decide how we use our money, time and influence.
